Description
This contemporary acrylic painting was inspired by recently released compilation album Nothing Has Changed by David Bowie. It is the first to showcase Bowies entire career. The albums title comes from a songs lyric Sunday, album Heathen, Bowie 2002.
David Bowie is an English singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is also a painter and collector of fine art. Bowie has been a major figure in the world of popular music for over four decades, and is renowned as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He is known for his distinctive voice as well as the intellectual depth and eclecticism of his work. Bowies innovative songs and stagecraft brought a new dimension to popular music in the early 1970s, strongly influencing both its immediate forms and its subsequent development. A pioneer of glam rock, Bowie has joint responsibility with Marc Bolan for creating the genre.
Aside from his musical abilities, he is recognized for his androgynous beauty, which was an iconic element to his image, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s.

Tanya, this is a great Bowie portrait!! I love your colour placement and choice, totally contemporary and flashy as if you lit the whole thing up with green neon lights!! Great acrylic! Have a great Friday and weekend! L&F&T, Christel.
Tanya Filichkin replied:
Thank you for a great comment Christel - what a treat to hear your thought on this portrait and receive detailed critiques; voting also counts! And on a subject of colors use - visual interpretation of color in images is so individual, it is all depends - some see it as neon, flashy, others - just bright, vivid and beautiful. What I wanted to express applying strong, vivid hues, that Mr. Bowie is bright, colorful, multifaceted artist who completely re-invented himself multiple times in edgy ways during his extraordinary career, consistently proving that he is brilliantly talented- hope it makes sense. Have a nice weekend

I must comment on this. You have used a comic book style of line work that conveys Bowie brilliantly without making him a caricature of himself. He has an edge you have captured so well. I believe he would like this very much. I don't know his music so well, but his acting in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence was stunning.
Tanya Filichkin replied:
And regarding to the second part of your comment- yes, Mr. D.Bowie is fantastic as an actor, but I am and always was, a huge fan of his songwriting, music and artistic expression via Art which is truly brilliant. I would be thrilled if he can see this work! Thanks again for your fabulous comment and support!

Thank you for your comments Chana - always appreciated! What is an interesting observation - happy to know your opinion! It is always fascinating to see how other artists or people in general interpret art they look at. Actually, comic books style has never been my area of expertise - there are plenty of talented artists who can do it much better then me. What I was intending to express, can be described by Mr. D.Bowie himself in the following quote: I don't have stylistic loyalty. That's why people perceive me changing all the time. But there is a real continuity in my subject matter. As an artist of artifice, I do believe I have more integrity than any one of my contemporaries.
